    Asparagus is one of the first plants that greets us in springtime! It’s a perennial, which means that once it gets established, the tender spears will return year after year. In addition, its ferny foliage makes an excellent ornamental.  Is there a more delicious return on investment than growing asparagus? We don’t think so! After getting established, asparagus can share its healthy bounty for up to 20 years. It’s one of our favorites to plant in a central Texas garden. How long does it take to grow?     Lowe’s Garden Centers are hosting a Springfest this year which includes some pretty fun projects and some free flowers, trees and supplies. You must be registered on Lowes.com to receive the free kits. If you don’t have spring break plans, you’re not alone.     Farmacy Community Garden has taken root in Spicewood. Is it time for Lakeway to have its own Community Garden? Let us know in the comments below. Through hard work and dedication, a group of volunteers in western Travis County have transformed a plot of scrub and rocky land into a community garden that makes a difference in the lives of area residents in need. The Bee Creek United Methodist Church in Spicewood is recognizing the effort April 18 with an official dedication of the garden, named Farmacy.     The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center’s Spring Native Plant Sale will feature a variety of spectacular Texas native plants, including perennial and annual flowers, grasses, wetland plants, succulents, shrubs and trees. Building on the safe and successful sale held in the fall, shopping will occur over nine weekends, with limited capacity and timed entry.
